Management Information Systems

MIS consists of a professional team of people dedicated to fulfilling the University's mission. Below is a brief biography of each team member including the applications they support, their professional experiences and their hobbies.

Theresa enjoys her leadership role as MIS Coordinator. Proud of what the group has accomplished, she strives to ensure that services are delivered promptly and accurately to best meet the strategic goals of the university. She serves on the Core Management Team for the Banner implementation and leads the Information Access Team. She has been with the university for over 20 years. She is a graduate of Drury University with a major in Business Administration. Theresa came to Missouri State from Cox Health Systems where she began her career in IT.

With over 20 years of supporting databases and query users, Greg is well-positioned to use his expertise at Missouri State University. Leading the Query Developer's User Group is one of Greg's responsibilities as is teaching classes on SQL and writing queries. Being a history buff is one way he spends his free time.

Brent began his career in IT at Cerner Corporation, a leading US supplier of healthcare information technology solutions in Kansas City to become a Database Analyst for the University. He graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in Computer Information Systems in 2000.

Scott is a Database Analyst, and is currently assisting in the rollout of the Argos reporting application. He graduated from McMurry University, Abilene Texas, with a degree in Computer Science and has also obtained an MBA degree from Webster University. Since leaving the Air Force in 1992, Scott has worked in a variety of computer-related positions in the Springfield area. His previous work experience includes serving as a Programmer Analyst at St. Johns and as the Computer Training Institute Administrator at Ozarks Technical Community College. Scott is married with three children, and enjoys most of the outdoor sporting activities in the Ozark area.

Stephanie supports the Operational Data Store and the Enterprise Data Warehouse here at the University. She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She comes to Missouri State with previous IT experience from Cox College where she was a database analyst, as well as Frenchman Valley Coop, where she worked as the IT Manager. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, barbequing and going to watch local bands.

Nathan supports the Administrative and Financial Applications as lead for that team. He is a graduate of Arizona State University majoring in Education. Previous careers include teacher, store manager, information technology specialist and business owner. Prior to joining Missouri State, Nathan worked in London, England implementing a facility based ERP. Nathan is the resident magician and is a tricky fellow.

Brian has supported many of the student systems in the past and continues in that capacity as the leader of the student team. He has a broad range of technical experience and has served in some capacity of application development for more than a decade. Brian and his two sons enjoy anything related to the outdoors, but particularly camping, floating, hiking, and exploring new areas.

Kathleen supports the Residence Life and Services Department. Serving the university since 1989, she has previously been the Database Administrator and the analyst for the Administrative Services division. She is a graduate of the University of Missouri - Columbia with a major in Mathematics. Previous IT experience includes Gulf Corporation, NCR Corporation, and Cox Medical Centers. Her hobby is showing her Shetland Sheepdogs in agility.

Brad supports the Administrative and Finance areas including Student Employment, Human Resources, and Payroll applications. He has been with the university for over eight years after receiving his degree in Computer Information Systems at Missouri State. Brad enjoys cycling and is an avid high school sports official in swimming and soccer. When he is not busy officiating he enjoys spending time with his family.

She worked as a Project Analyst at Sprint in Kansas City before returning to Springfield to begin a family with her husband.

Amie supports the Banner Document Management System and workflow processes associated with Banner. She graduated from the Missouri University of Science & Technology in 1998 with a B.S. in Management Systems and from Oklahoma State University in 2005 with an MBA. Amie has more than 10 years experience as a business and systems analyst, IT consultant, IT auditor, operational manager, and project manager. In her spare time, Amie enjoys outdoor activities and travel with her husband and volunteering for the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life.

Toni supports systems for Admissions, Bookstore, Student Orientation, Recruitment, Food Services and ZIP Card Office. Toni is a graduate of Missouri Southern State University in CIS and an MBA graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. Originally retiring after 32 years at a food manufacturer, she returned to work in MIS. She enjoys reading, family gatherings and spending time at the lake.

Al lends his support to student systems such as Residence Life and Advising Notes. He has worked for several educational institutions including the University of Nebraska as a programmer, and Ozarks Technical Community College as an instructor. Al graduated from CSULA with a BS degree in mathematics. In his spare time he enjoys photography, playing guitar and gardening.

Mic works on systems for Admissions, Recruitment, International Student Services, Bookstore and Student Elections. Mic has a degree from California State University - Hayward, in Philosophy and a degree from the University of Phoenix in Business Administration. He has worked at Chevron USA, Principal Financial Group, and Brookside Hospital prior to coming to Missouri State. He has a wife and two dogs, and plays bass in the local rock/blues band "Thin Line".

Phill is a 1994 graduate of Missouri State University with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems . He served nine years in the Air Force and now serves as an Air Force Reservist. For the past 12 years, Phill has worked on various Student systems for the University. In his spare time, he enjoys working on classic cars and creating various forms of art.

He has been with Missouri State for 11 years and is an active member of several University committees and organizations. In his personal time he enjoys his dog, reading historical novels, hiking and activity in his local church.

After 25 years as a Professor at DeVry University, Steve taught briefly as a Per-Course Instructor at Missouri State, then he joined the HR/Payroll Team to assist with the Banner Conversion. Steve holds a B.Sc. in Psychology from The Ohio State University and a Masters of Computer Science from the University of Dayton. In his spare time he performs with the Queen City Dance Band and directs the Steve Samuelson Big Band and the Sounds Pretty Good Combo.

Marianne supports Web Registration, CAP-IT, Course Management, and most other systems that are used by students, faculty and staff. Marianne graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in Music. She is also a licensed massage therapist at a local massage studio in Springfield where her specialty is working in Oncology Massage - Massage for those touched by cancer and their caregivers. Tom has created and maintained nearly all of the University's systems in some way or another. If you've seen a University web page, it's a good chance he's touched it! He's a graduate of Missouri State University with a degree in Industrial Technology. In his spare time Tom can be found on volleyball courts throughout the Midwest either actively playing the game or officiating the sport.
