The mission of the Management Information Systems (MIS) group within Computer Services is
to support the University's mission, policies and procedures by designing, developing,
implementing and maintaining computer application systems for the University. This
process provides the University's users with customized solutions that support their
functions, help enforce their policies and automate their processes. This purpose may
also be served through implementation of purchased software packages.
Information is provided to students, faculty and staff in a variety of ways.
Interactive, online systems allow users to receive current information immediately. Ad
hoc, database queries allow faculty and staff to generate their own customized reports.
Web pages allow users to view and sometimes update their own personal data. Batch
reports are provided to customers via overnight processing and delivered through
hardcopy, email or remote printing. Information may be downloaded to users' PC's, thus
enabling further analysis using PC software packages.
The MIS group also trains users to effectively use the systems it develops or implements.
The group works to maintain security to ensure that only authorized users are able to access sensitive data.
