Now that the initial implementation of Banner is complete, the Management Information Systems (MIS) unit of Computer Services has turned its attention to tasks such as report-writing , automation of Banner jobs, implementing new Banner functionality, and projects to augment Banner. I expect this type of work to continue for some time.
I am happy to say that our staff has efficiently retooled our skill sets to meet our changing environment. Decommissioning the previous computing environment (Phoenix) is scheduled for completion fall of 2011. The process to decommission Phoenix will require significant effort as critical data is moved to Oracle and the few systems that remain on Phoenix are rewritten.
We continue to strive to provide the campus community not only with software that meets their needs, but with consultation and software project management services. We are always in the process of meeting with various groups to help formulate plans to address issues and help them craft software to make the university more efficient.
